For my card I stamped Penny Black 40-238 Floral Applique and colored it with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Art Grip Color Pencils and then added just a touch of grey for dimension using Copic markers C1 and C3.

Fun Friday Collabo, Week 5

Can you believe it's already the end of May? What happened to this month!  Darlene and I are sharing the last of our collabo cards today.  But, if you want to play along using the same featured stamps we have used this month, just upload your cards to the Penny Circle Flickr gallery with the tag "JillDarlene."  We'd love to see what you create and just might feature one of your cards on our blogs next Friday! *wink, wink*
May 31
Blooming Garden is one of my favorite Penny Black sets and for today's card I decided to keep things very clean and simple.
IMG_0447
The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. I cut out and layered the orange flower with pop dots for extra dimension.  And I just love how the Twinery Twine from SRM stickers finishes things off.

Now be sure to pop over to Darlene's blog to see what she's done with this set. I can only imagine what gorgeousness she's got up her sleeve!

Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene, Week 4

Happy Friday!  Ready for another installment of my Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene? I know I can't wait to see what she has cooked up using Penny Black's Slapstick/Cling set 40-198 Every Happiness.
May 24
Here's what I created...
IMG_0442
I began by stamping the panels using VersaMagic Ink in the colors of Red Magic, Sage, and Spring Pansy.  Once dry I cut them out and applied just a touch of Distress Ink to the stamped images.  The sold background was inked with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and the soft tan background was first inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then stamped with Wheat VersaMagic Ink (Penny Black 40-204 Fleur De Lys).

You've Been Spotted...Kailash

This week Penny Black is featuring stampers that they have "spotted" making Penny Black stamps shine.  AND lucky me, because the designers are also playing along!!
spotted blog graphic
I've been seeing lots of fabulous Penny Black creations out in blogland, so it was sooo hard for me to choose just one person...but today I'm honored to have "spotted" Kailash!  For extra fun, I made some cards of my own Inspired By Kailash's gorgeous designs.  Let's get started!

This first card by Kailash uses one of my favorite Penny Black poppy stamps...
Sweet wishes
And here's my take:
IMG_0614
The background was created with Distress Paints (Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Fired Brick) which was then stamped repeatedly with Penny Black 40-237 Life's Messages using Cognac Palette Ink.  The flower, Penny Black 30-196 Flowers Sweet, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers.

Here's the next GORGEOUS card by Kailash.  I LOVE her watercolor background!
Life is beautiful
Here's my take:
IMG_0609
Kailash inspired me to get out my watercolors and I used the same general colors as her...green, purple, and blue.  To create my watercolor background I applied Dr. Ph Martin's Hydrus watercolor paints onto my acrylic block, lightly spritzed with water, and then pressed the acrylic block onto white cardstock.  Once dry, I embossed the flowers from Penny Black, 30-156 Tweet Tweet.

Finally, here's one more AMAZING card by Kailash.  I just love how she repeatedly stamped the poppies with a watercolor look.
Life is beautiful
Here's my take:
IMG_0613
Inspired by Kailash's watercolor look and rich colors, I inked Penny Black 40-193 Wistful with Distress Paints, lightly misted with water, and then stamped onto white cardstock.  So simple!

BIG thanks to you, Kailash, for making Penny Black stamps shine and providing all of us with incredible inspiration!  As part of Penny Black's "You've Been Spotted" week-long event, I have a special blinkie for you.

Thanks for popping by, my friends! Be sure to tune into the Penny Black blog all this week as they are spotting lots of talented stampers. :)

Inchie Arts...Did 'ya know?

Today I thought I’d share a little did ya know session based on the techniques I used on this white Twinchie (2 x 2 inch) Art Square.
May 20
*Did you know that you can use your Corner Chomper on the precision cut matboard Art Squares?  Yep, it works!
*Did you know you can color with Copic markers directly onto Art Squares?  The surface makes it easy to blend the colors.
*Did you know that layering your Art Square with your dies creates a fun look?  Today I used Spellbinders Labels 16.

Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene, Week 3

It's another Friday in May... you know what that means!  Collabo time with my talented friend Darlene!  This week we are both using Penny Black's 4310K Verdant.
May 17
To create my card I first stamped 4310K Verdant with VersaMark Ink into white cardstock.  Next, I sponged Pan Pastels over the stamped image.  I love how easy this look is to create and what great coverage the Pan Pastels provide.  To finish things off, I simply stamped my background using Penny Black 40-206 Glory of Modesty with Sea Breeze VersaMagic ink.

You can see all the details of my collabo with Darlene on THIS post, and if you missed last week's posting you can check it out HERE.

Penny Black's "For Family" Challenge

One of my favorite things is hanging out with my sweet nieces and I was lucky enough to spend a couple of afternoons with Maddi making cards!  So in the spirit of Penny Black's current challenge, "For Family," I'm honored to share 12-year-old Maddi's creations today.
for family challenge

Maddi created these first two cards for her basketball and soccer coaches.  Both background stamps are by Penny Black and the stickers are by SRM.

Maddi did lots of watercoloring and distressing on this lovely fashion girl set...

Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene

I love Fridays...especially this month as I am collaborating with Darlene!!  And in case you missed last Friday's post and all of our collabo details, you can see it by clicking HERE.  Today we are both using Penny Black's 30-170 T for Transparent set, 30-170 Sweet Home.
May 10
Here's what I created...
IMG_0444
I began by stamping the house with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink, embossing in clear powder, and coloring with Copic Markers.  The patterned paper with text (MME) was ever so lightly colored with a white Pan Pastel to mute the contrast between the text and the background.  I create the splatter effect by coloring with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush Pens onto my acrylic block, spritzing with water, and then flicking the ink/paint onto the card base using a paintbrush.  Finally, I added just a bit of twine from The Twinery (available from SRM Stickers) to finish things off.

Thanks for visiting and now be sure to go visit Darlene's blog to see what her talented hands have done with this same stamp set!

Inchie Arts

When using Inchie Arts Art Squares, I’m always inspired to reach for my juiciest and brightest inks and paints.  The Art Squares are like having a tiny canvas to put on a card! Today I used a 3 x 3 inch white Art Square.
IMG_0478
Here’s how I achieved this look:
1.   Place a few drops of Dr. Ph Martin’s Hydrus watercolor onto your craft mat.  Do one color at a time.
2.   Dip and press the art square onto the ink.  Let dry.
3.   Repeat this process with the next color.
4.   Swipe Distress Paints in coordinating colors around the edges of the Art Square.
5.   Very lightly distress the entire Art Square with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Announcing...Fun Friday Collabo with Darlene!

All through the month of May I'm sooooo excited to announce that I will be collaborating with my talented crafty friend Darlene DeVries!  I'm super honored to be working with Darlene as I'm such an admirer of her work and awesome videos.
May 3
Today we are both using Penny Black's Tiger Lily cling stamp.
Here's what I've created...
IMG_0356
I began by stamping the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then I colored it with Copics.  I cut out the image and added it to the card with pop dots.  The yellow background was created by inking white cardstock using an Our Crafter's Workshop with Wild Honey and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink along with Sun Flower Palette Ink.  Once dry, I dipped my paintbrush into Gesso and flicked it onto the background.
IMG_0358
Now be sure to click HERE to visit Darlene's blog to see what she's created with this same stamp!  I'm headed there myself!
Oh and because Darlene and I both think "the more the merrier" when it comes to stamping, if you want to play along with our collaboration, just make a card using this same stamp and upload it to the Penny Circle flickr gallery and tag it with JillDarlene.  On June 7th on our blogs, both Darlene and I will be featuring cards of folks who've played along!
