Teneale *Day 4*

I have to admit that I am so sad to see our week with Teneale coming to an end today. I know I will be visiting her blog FREQUENTLY to see all of the eye candy! Speaking of eye-candy, check out Teneale's card today: So pretty in pink! This monochromatic card is a beauty!
Here is my take. I was especially inspired by Teneale's overall design:

The green background is patterned paper which was inked with Walnut Stain and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. And again, I used my new fav tool, Sew Easy, to add the pierced border. (piercing from the back and then inking) The yellow background began as patterned paper which was then inked with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then stamped with Penny Black 1999L Letter Background in Spiced Marmalade as well. Scallops and circle distressed with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The butterfly was inked with Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick Distress Ink, spritzed with water, stamped onto white cardstock, and then cut out. Sentiment by Penny Black, 30-014 Salutations.

And the day wouldn't be complete without a peek at what's poppin' over on the Mementos blog; right?...

Thanks again for all of your visits this week! Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with lots of time to stamp! HUGS!

Teneale *Day 3*

I LOVEEEE this card by Teneale: The sentiment is perfect; isn't it? And the subtle stamping of the clocks-- GENIUS! Finally, the texture is such a great finishing touch.
Here is my take:

This card began as white cardstock (except for the little bit of text peeking out in the upper corner of the main panel- that's pp). The texture background was embossed using Sizzix Texture Fade Gridlock embossing folder. Once embossed, it was inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and the bottom portion of the card die cut using Spellbinders Labels 8 was inked with Black Soot Distress Ink. The main panel with the tree was distressed with Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The tree, Penny Black 3977H Splendor, was inked with Stamper's Big Brush Markers, coloring directly onto the stamp. Once stamped, I added shading using PITT Artist Pens. I also stamped Penny Black 3859H Corner Piece using Pumice Stone Distress ink. Sentiment by Penny Black, 4070F Dreams Come True.

And I hope you can stop by the Mementos Blog today- we've got a new tutorial video for ya! Here's a tiny peek at the card--- http://www.ilovemementos.blogspot.com/

See you tomorrow with our last inspiration card by the amazing Teneale!

Teneale *Day 2*

Here's our next truly amazing card by Teneale: I love Teneale's color choices here! And the overall layout is awesome for those bird stamps we all own. Finally, I love how she has added splatters to her papers- such a fun touch!
Here's my take:

Okay, two days in a row that I've used patterned paper....I am sensing a new addicition.... LOL! The green and orange patterned papers were distresed with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I also added brown splatters by coloring with my Nougat Stamper's Big Brush marker onto my acrylic block, spritzing with water, and then dipping my paint brush into the ink and flicking onto my paper. The circle was distressed with Walnut Stain and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and then stamped with Penny Black 3859H Corner Piece in Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. The bird, Penny Black 4157K Nature's Day, was colored with Copic markers. Sentiment by Penny Back, 30-032 Enjoy Life. Oh, and that row of circles is just Candi dots in white mounted onto white cardstock and then distressed with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Such a fun way to add texture without weight or bulk!

Now here's what's happening on the Mementos Blog today...

Thanks again for your visits and lovely comments. I know I say it a lot but I mean it with loads of gratitude- your support means the world to me!! :) HUGS!

Inspired by...Teneale

I am soooo thrilled to announce that this week's featured artist is Teneale Williams! (EDITED TO ADD- TENEALE IS HAVING SOME TROUBLE WITH HER BLOG- HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON. I ASSURE YOU, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!) I was first introduced to Teneale's work on the CASE Study Challenge blog, and once I found her blog I was in LOVE with her style. All of her cards just make me SWOON! Just look at her inspiration card for today: The colors, the layers of stamping, the distressing.... Seriously, cardmaking doesn't get any more beautiful than this!!
Here is my oh-so-humble take:

The card background is actually patterned paper which I distressed with Walnut Stain and Black Soot Distress Ink. (Can you believe it? I hardly ever get out my patterned papers!) The papers behind the flower also began as patterned paper which were inked with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Oh, and do you see the pierced holes on the left hand side of the background? Those were done using my new favorite tool, Sew Easy, piercing from the back and then inking with Distress Ink. The script, Penny Black 1999L Letter background, was stamped with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, removing some ink with a baby wipe before stamping. The flower, Penny Black 4160K Cheerful, was colored with Stamper's Big Brush Markers and then Distressed with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Finally, the brown panel was inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Sentiment by Penny Black, 30-014 Salutations.

Now for a peek at what is happening on the Mementos BLOG today....

PB&J and CHA photos

Hello, my friends! I've missed you!!! I had a wonderful (and VERY busy) time at CHA but I am also glad to be home. I want to send another BIG thanks to all of the very talented gals who took over "Inspired By..." last week. I am completely blown away by all of their talent. And thanks to all of you for your visits and comments. You had me smiling every morning as I kicked Lisa off her computer, um... I mean borrowed Lisa's computer, to check my email.

Here is today's PB&J card. It features some brand spankin' new Penny Black Christmas stamps. Oh, my friends, the new catalog is to-die-for awesome. And just so you know, Mementos will be taking pre-orders for the new stamps ASAP. I will let you know the minute you can place your order. To watch a video tutorial demonstrating the creation of this card from start to finish, visit the Penny Black blog HERE or watch directly on YouTube in HD HERE.

Now for some CHA photos. I wasn't able to get many pictures taken because most of my time was spent doing Make and Takes at the Faber-Castell and Penny Black booths. (so fun!) Here are a few shots. This is a peek at some of the new stamps and cards from the Penny Black catalog:

And this is a shot of a great new product released from Faber-Castell- standard colored pencils. And let me tell ya, these color and blend sooooo smoothly: Here's a better shot of the cards I created to show the range of colors you can achieve with the colored pencils:
And another one of my favorite booths--- CANDI. Love, love, LOVE (did I mention LOVE?) all the folks there: And here's Lisa (Mementos owner and my dear friend) and I chillin' at the Cosmo Cricket booth: And our good friend, Sheila, drove up to check out all the goodies. Love ya, Sheila!

And finally, here's me and my new BFF, Chelsea, at the Faber Booth. SOOO glad we got to meet! Well, I think that's all for today, folks! See you tomorrow with a new featured artist. And I know I've said this before, but you are going to ADORE her work!! HUGS!

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 6

You know I couldn't stop at just five days of takeovers, I just had to make it 6. Today's guest blogger is the absolutely AMAZING Joy Taylor:

Hi there everyone, Joy here taking over Jill’s blog for the day whilst she plays at CHA….all I will say is lucky gal!! So this week we have seen some amazing creations from some very talented girls…such eye candy to behold. Today, it is my turn to be inspired by one of Jill’s amazing creations and I have chosen this gorgeous card.

This card makes you drool right? I mean talk about having the WOW! factor…I love everything about this card, from the colour blocks to the tone on tone effect in the background to the gorgeous poppy stamp.

To honour this truly beautiful creation, I am sharing my take on Jill’s card….this is what I chose to create….

My card was created using lots of Hero Arts goodies….stamping the poppy stamp onto white card stock, adding a dusting of Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy distress ink and trimming the poppy heads out. Staying with the poppy stamp, I stamped it again onto more white card stock and added the colour blocks of distress ink, Broken China, Dusty Concord, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. Using more distress ink, Brushed Corduroy, I inked up the La Lettre stamp and stamped over the entire card stock. Next, I adhered the flowers that had been trimmed earlier and using foam dimensionals I adhered to the poppy that was stamped on the card stock. Finishing the card by stamping a sentiment to the card stock from the Huge Hugs stamp set and adhering to a trimmed white card.

I hope you all have enjoyed viewing these creations today and I just want to send out a huge thanks to Jill for asking me to be apart of this week…Jill inspires me so much and has become a truly wonderful friend and I am honoured that she took the time to ask me to share this day with you all…
Big thanks Jill!! Hope you all have an amazing day!

Hugs, Joy

WOW! Joy, you've blown me away again with yet another fantastic creation! Remember, you can see lots more of Joy's awesome cards on her blog HERE.

BIG, BIG, BIG thanks to all of my guest bloggers this week. It's an honor to have you takeover and an even bigger honor to call you friends. And another BIG thanks to all of you who have popped in this week. I hope you've enjoyed the fun! I will be back bloggin' on Monday with a new featured artist (OMG-all of her cards are masterpieces-just wait 'til you see...) and hopefully some pics from CHA. HUGS!

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 5

Are you ready for BLOG TAKEOVER, day 5?

Hey!
It's Aimes here from Crafting Confessions , totally gatecrashing blog stylee! Let's get this party started! LOL!
OK, ok so I'm not actually gatecrashing as I was invited over here by Jill. Boy was I was totally honoured with such a responsibility and jumped at the chance to hang out around here for a day. So I feel that it's only polite as the hostess to offer you a drink; tell you what, I'll put the kettle on for us and whilst it's boiling share a card with ya *wink*
As you probably know, Jill is playing a little role reversal whilst she has a blast at CHA (Am I jealous? Moi?! In a word - Yup!) and it's me who gets to pick a card of hers to be inspired by. Sounds easy, huh? Well have you checked out Jill's gallery? There's inspiration ooozing outta every creation of hers! Still, I had to narrow down my choice to one card of here and picked this beauty:

What drew me to this card? Well not only Jill's amazing attention to detail when it comes to colouring, but I also loved the idea of using a tag on a card. I mean, I have some tag dies but hardly use 'em enough. So out came a tag die, some scrummy new flower stamps and I got inky:

Now my colouring skill is nothing close to Jill's but I do love me a good colouring session and I've had these new stamps from Verve that have been waiting ever-so-patiently to be inked up. But not only do I love that I got to have a play with my Promarkers, I also love that Jill even inspired me to cut up some patterned paper that I've been hoarding and attach it to a card too! I think I've only got about a million sheets of the stuff to use LOL!
Ooooh, do you hear that? The kettle's just boiled so I'm gonna go make us that cuppa...
Thanks so much to Jill for trusting me with her blog today - I hope I've tidied up after myself LOL!

Aimes! You sure now how to make a girl SMILE BIG! Your post has me laughing and smiling and oogling at your beautiful card! Thanks, my friend!

And don't worry-this fun week of takeovers isn't over yet. I'll have a bonus post for you tomorrow by another incredibly talented stamper- hope you'll stop by!

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 4

Our next blog takeover-er (LOL) is one of the sweetest cardmakers I know. Oh, and she's got tons of talent up her sleeve, too!
Hi everyone!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Barb. I'm taking over Jill's blog for the day while she's at CHA working hard and hopefully having some fun too!

I was so excited when Jill asked me to do this! I have loved her work and admired her amazing talent for a long time! She put a fun twist on this week's posts too. You're used to Jill featuring someone who inspires her. Well, this week all the posts will be just the opposite. She has asked us to choose one of her cards, then create one of our own. Isn't that fun?!

It was an absolute pleasure looking through her photostream but quite difficult choosing just one card to CASE. They are all so beautiful! I narrowed it down to three and then finally chose this one for my inspiration:

Isn't it gorgeous?! I Love the colors and ADORE this design, so I decided to very closely CASE it. Here is my card:
I got very inky with this one because that's what Jill would do! I used distress inks in Broken China, Bundled Sage and Vintage Photo. The rose stamp is from Hero Arts and I colored it with Copics, cut out the flowers and paper pieced them onto the same image that was stamped onto the main panel. I don't have a large scallop punch, so I punched out six scalloped circles and adhered them behind the panel. I love when Jill uses a text stamp and wipes a portion of it off before stamping. I used that same technique over the card base, using another Hero Arts stamp called, La Letter. And I just had to use that sentiment for Jill because she really DOES inspire me!

If I've learned anything from Jill, it's not to be afraid to use bold colors. When I use distress inks, I normally rub very lightly with the inking tool. She has taught me to use them in a different way to achieve amazing colors, and I love it!

I want to thank Jill for giving me this wonderful opportunity! It was so fun turning the tables and casing one of HER cards. I hope you've enjoyed it too. If you'd like to see more of my work, please visit my blog at http://www.bdengler4.blogspot.com/. I'd love to see you there!

Thank you for stopping by today! I really appreciate it and I know Jill does too! Have a great day! :)

Thanks, Barb, for all you do for the stamping community. You're one in a million! And I just have to say that I'm gaga over that background behind your rose on today's card! :)
Before I go, I also wanted to mention that today is the last day to sign up for my August Stamp Club DVD class! I'd
love to have you stamp with me so for more details visit the Mementos Blog today OR order it directly HERE. (Oh, and I have another new card over on the Mementos Blog today, too) HUGS!

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 3

I hope you are all having as much fun as I am seeing these beautiful creations by these awesome guest bloggers this week! Up next is sweet Dana and I can't get enough of her beautifully colored flowers!

Hi Everyone:
Dana here taking over Jill’s blog for today, and boy am I ever glad to be here with you. Of all places I could be today, I didn’t expect this to be one of them. I am extremely happy that Jill invited me to hang out here at Inspired By. I hope that as you visit today that you will be inspired by the card that I made.
Well we all know that Jill is the Queen of Distress Inks and I think her cards are to die for. So in saying that, I decided to take a peek at her Penny Black cards in her Flickr gallery and create a card based on this beauty. I told you that it was a beauty didn’t I!! Lol. Okay so here is my take! See what you think!

Card Supplies
Inks: Black StazOn
Stamps: CL342 - Everyday Sayings – Hero Arts
Digital Stamps: Sweetest Flower - Deedee’s Digis
Markers: Tombo Markers #’s 098, 443, 452, 856, 905, 993, White Gel Pen - Marvy
Distress Inks: Ranger - Broken China, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, Storm Grey, Fired Brick, & Vintage Photo
Adhesives: Glue Dots, Score Tape, and Glue Glider Pro
Watercolour Paper: Canson 90 lbs./185GSM
Cardstock: Autumn Leaves
To make this card I printed the digital image on watercolour paper. I coloured each flower with a combination of 3 to 4 shades of colour. The advantage with watercolour paper is that you can take away colour if there is too much and add extra if you need to darken a colour. That is what I did with each individual flower. Then to add a deeper shade, I used my Distress Inks to add shading around each flower petal and underneath petals. A little tip to determine where your shading should be, is visualize that the shadow should always be behind or underneath. To add highlights I just used my white gel pen and added it in areas that were in the opposite direction of where my shading was located. To be honest I think I went a little overboard. For a touch of whimsy I added white dots to the center of each petal. The edge of the card was distressed with Vintage Photo ink. Then jute twine was wrapped around the card twice and tied in a bow. The sentiment was then stamped in black. The flowers were added to side of the card using pop dots. That’s it! Voila!
If you would like to check out more of my work why not visit me at http://www.relivingtomorrow.blogspot.com/. I would love to have you come and visit. Maybe even become a follower if you like what you see!
Well that is it for me today folks! Hoped you liked your little visit with me today and don’t worry Jill will be back soon from CHA! Lucky Duck! I know she is having a blast! Have fun Chicka!
Hugs & Blessings
Dana

Dana, thanks for your great post and for always providing lots of great inspiration on your BLOG! And don't forget I am posting some new cards over on the Mementos blog this week. Here's a peek at today's card:

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 2

Well, if you loved Sarah's blog takeover yesterday (and of course we all did!) then I'm sure you'll find Nancy's blogging just as delightful. Take it away, my sweet friend:

Hi there, it’s Nancy, trying out the director’s chair here at Inspired by…..
Who hasn’t been inspired and filled with amazement when visiting Jill’s fabulous blog? I’m sure you can imagine my delight to be here today as the guest blogger! So while Jill is knocking everyone’s socks off at CHA with her extraordinary talent, let’s get inspired.

Jill’s penchant for deep rich, saturated color always makes her cards standout from the rest….they are all such eye-candy! Her photo-stream is just one gorgeous card after another. It was difficult to choose just one card as my inspiration but this one captured my imagination; I love the Penny Black Music Background and of course the rich warm colors that are Jill's signature.

I decided to use all the same elements Jill used on her lovely creation; flower image, 2 butterflies, music background on a raised panel and of course those fabulous colors.

I started with the Music panel; I stamped PB Music Background with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on white cardstock (Neenah Solar White). I trimmed the panel and lightly covered it with Wild Honey Distress ink (I love this gorgeous warm color and use it a lot!) Then I went around the edge with Vintage Photo. This panel was layered with black cardstock.

For the background panel, Penny Black Paisley Outline was stamped using Antique Linen Distress ink on white cardstock. I blended more Antique Linen over the whole panel and used Vintage Photo to add some deep color and contrast around the edge. I mounted this to a white top-fold card base.

For the butterflies, I colored with a red Copic marker R27 on the Music Background scrap and punched them out with a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch.

The flower is from Hero Arts clear set Big and Small Flowers. I stamped the large flower 3 times with Tuxedo Black Memento ink then colored one with red, one with magenta, and the center of the third one with yellow. I used the stem with leaves from the same clear set. I used these Copic Markers for all of my coloring: R27, R46, RV17, Y15, Y19, Y38, YG05 and YG07.

My sentiment is a favorite SRM sticker added to white cardstock and layered with black cardstock. My only embellishment is a bit of black crochet thread tied in a bow around the music panel.

Thanks for joining me today; it is such a thrill to fill in for Jill today and even a greater joy to count her a friend. I hope you’ll visit my blog, Happy Heart Studio; I just may have a little blog candy for you! Blessings ~

Ooh, blog candy? Nancy, you are too sweet! Thanks for your beautiful card and post. I'm honored to call you friend, too!! And before I go, here's a peek at a set of cards I have over on the Mementos Blog. You can see individual pictures of each card and a photo tutorial HERE. http://www.ilovemementos.blogspot.com/

BLOG TAKEOVER- Day 1

Good morning! Jill here, to let you know that as you read this I am probably up in the air making my way to CHA. I'm quite nervous about flying so hopefully I don't chicken out! LOL While I'm gone this week, some sweet friends of mine are taking over Inspired By... blogging and creating cards inspired by me. (I'm super honored, BTW!). Let's begin with the uber-talented Sarah:

Hi everyone! Sarah Moerman here, taking over Jill's blog for the day while she's at CHA. I'm so excited to be visiting and sharing a couple of cards I made that were inspired by our extremely talented friend. (I couldn't stop with just one). ;) Here's Jill's fabulous creation:

I was inspired by Jill's color combination, the depth she added by distressing the edges, the torn edge on the kraft paper, and her sketch.... basically EVERYTHING about her card. ;) Here are my cards:

Using Hero Arts stamps and Bo Bunny patterned paper, I kept the layout the same as Jill's for my first card. The notecard was stamped using Hero Arts "Modern Lines" stamp. I stamped the cake from the "Celebrate All Day" set directly onto the polka dot paper. I then re-stamped it on white cardstock, colored it with Prismacolor pencil crayons, cut it out and adhered it over the first cake. (The candles I just colored directly on the patterned paper so I wouldn't have to do all the fussy cutting). I think the rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory.

For my second card I kept the colors the same but flipped sketch onto it's side. The background was stamps with Hero Arts Cling Dots background stamp. The worm and sentiment are both from the "Birthday Buddies" set by Paper Smooches. Again I used Prismacolor pencil crayons to do my coloring.

If you have any questions feel free to email me. My email address is at the top right side of my blog: http://sarahsjustvisiting.blogspot.com/.

Thank you so much, Jill, for inviting me to take over your blog today! I am truly honoured and had so much fun hanging out here. :) I hope you're having a blast at CHA and can't wait for you come back and share your experience with us!

Hi it's Jill popping in to say WOW! Sarah, I just love your cards today. They are so fun!! I know I find so much inspiration on your BLOG. Trust me, if you haven't checked it out you will want to head over there ASAP. And before I go I just wanted to remind you that the BIG DEAL sale is still going on at www.ilovemementos.com- one more day! More info available here: http://www.ilovemementos.blogspot.com/

Inspired by...Debby *Day 4*

Happy Friday, my friends! I want to begin today by sending a BIG thanks to Debby for allowing me to share her truly special cards this week. Remember, you can see lots more of her charming inspiration on her blog HERE. Love her elegant card today: And here is my take:

The flowers, Penny Black 3865K Gossamer , were colored using Stamper's Big Brush Markers. All of the colored paper is Penny Black Mix and Match cardstock which has been distressed with piercing and by running the edge of my scissors along the edges. The pearls were colored with a yellow Copic marker. Sentiment by Penny Black, CL30-069 Hello Friend.

Debby *Day 3* (and a video)

When you see this next beautiful creation by Debby I just know your jaw is going to hit the ground! I love the yellow and the craft, the dainty polka dots, and her fun tag!
Here is my take. Since I am hosting the Penny Black blog this week, and the challenge is "distressing," I added a bit of ink to mine:

The flowers, Penny Black 3388K Unfold, were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, colored with Stamper's Big Brush Markers, and cut out to adhere on the card. The grass, Penny Black 40-054 Sweet Home, was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with a green PITT Artist Pen (perfect for fine, detailed images). The ground was distressed with Crushed Olive Distress Ink and the sky was distressed with a combination of Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. The bottom part of the card was inked with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and then flicked with water to create water spots. I inked the notecard with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Sentiment by Penny Black, 30-032 Enjoy Life.

Today on the Mementos Blog I have a step-by-step photo tutorial showing the creation of this card. Stop by and check it out HERE.

And just in case you missed it, this is the video tutorial I had posted on the Mementos blog yesterday, showing the creation of a complete set of cards using one of my favorite Penny Black Sticker sets, Romance of Flowers. I'm thinking of using these fun stickers to create sets of cards to give away as Christmas gifts this year (anybody who knows me knows I better get started on these like... yesterday! LOL).
Watch directly on YouTube HERE.

Thanks for visiting today! See u tomorrow! HUGS!
